Hello and welcome to my psychotherapy practice, Rosemary Munns, PLLC. I offer in-person and virtual individual and couple psychotherapy for adults. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Health (formerly, Program in Human Sexuality), where I provided individual, couple, and group psychotherapy with adults. My therapeutic work also extended to partners and families of people who have compulsive sexual behavior issues or offenses. After 23 years at the University of Minnesota, I retired as a faculty member and decided to start my own private practice.
I am a licensed psychologist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, with extensive clinical experience working with a broad range sexual and gender concerns, as well as a wide variety of mental health and substance use issues. An important part of my therapeutic work includes helping clients understand how they have lived in the world, how they have come to understand themselves and their values, and that the negative beliefs they have about themselves may not be true. I use a collaborative approach to individual therapy services and incorporate cognitive behavioral, gender affirming, interpersonal, and systems techniques.
Payment is requested at the time of the service unless other arrangements have been made prior to your session.
(I will give you a form with the required information that you can send to your insurance for reimbursement. This does not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance. You need to check with your insurance company to find out their policy on reimbursement. Some insurance policies offer out of network reimbursement and others do not)
I am an elected member of the Board of Directors (1998-2024) for the Minnesota Chapter of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (MnATSA). I am also a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sex Abusers, the American Psychological Association, and the Minnesota Psychological Association.
I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor, which has allowed me to supervise clinicians towards their own AASECT sex therapy certification. I serve on the AASECT committee for reviewing sex therapy certification applications and have advised postdoctoral fellows, faculty members, and clinicians on preparing successful certification applications. My professional interest in supervision is empowering clinicians to find their own therapeutic voice and working to remove barriers in their own professional development that may be hindering their ability to provide evidence-informed, high quality psychotherapy services.
